The Healing Power of Sound

“If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician. I often think in music. I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music.” Albert Einstein (1879-1955)

We, and our environments are literally vibrating with currents of energy. Our own subtle energies pick up on outside forces that affect us emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually. They can weigh us down, bring us to depths of depression. Sometimes we often feel we are taking on energy that doesn't belong to us. We act out of character or in essence react to underlying currents that we have taken in from our surroundings and other people. You are not always the originator of everything you may think and feel but you do have power over it through awareness and clearing practices such as sound vibration.

Working with sound, whether it be voice, bells, chimes, cymbals, drums or Tibetan bowls will break up stuck negative energy. Sound healing is a trusted ancient practice yet is new to many in our Western mainstream culture. Sound healing is based on a scientific principle that all matter is vibrating at specific frequencies. Even Albert Einstein saw his life in terms of music. Sound has stark impact on any natural substance. It creates geometric patterns in matter. Dr. Masuru Emoto studied the molecular structure of water in relation to sound. His book "The Hidden Messages in Water " is quite the eye opener and should be on your must read list. You can see the relationship between consciousness and sound in his works.

You can work with literally shaking off the negative energy attached to you. First you have to tune in and be present to what you are working with. There is more to our bodies than meets the eye. I guide my students in my Mind Body Bellydance to work with the chakras for healing . This Friday at our Red Tent Goddess Night we will utilize our previous work with energetic patterns in the body and fuse it with healing sounds. I invite you to join us as we work with bowls, bells, and cymbals to clear energies that do not belong to us. It is the end of the year and before we begin a new one we need to clear off the old stuck patterns. If you cannot attend in person be with us in spirit on future blog posts.
